Currently in heavy rotation on Japanese blogs: a shot from Japanese TV, purporting to show the schedule of a "normal" person (left) versus that of a "NEET" (right). NEET is a British acronym for someone who is Not Employed, in Education, or Training; in Japan, it's a less offensive way of calling someone an "otaku." Translation after the jump. How's YOUR schedule measure up?
How far otaku have fallen from the halcyon days of the Yappie...
The really fascinating thing here is watching NEET fighting back, by posting altered versions of the same chart on 2ch with even more insane "normal" working hours. Could this be the start of an all new series? When Otaku Attack!
Wow that's really interesting. The "normal" pie chart is just insane, no wonder the suicide rates are high in Japan...

Seriously? Sleep 7 hours, eat 3 hours, and work 14 hours each day? Somehow, I doubt that, unless buying drinks for pretty girls is part of the 'work' hours for salarymen.

Don't forget the time for commuting. I hope the average is 1 hour for 1 way, means at least 2 hours (or more) in a day, packed train. Tough, tough, and tough people.

NEET's job is home security!

There should be two "normal" pie charts, one for salariman and another for their wives.

There would be some slight adjusting in the case of the JTE I use to work with. Those 14 hours of work involved 3-5 hours of sleeping at her desk.

じゃテレビ番組のお客さんは全部NEETじゃん? w
I find it extremely ironic that a TV programme has produced charts suggesting that normal people don't have time for TV; only NEETs do...
Well, it's probably a joke that's been taken out of context by, I'm guessing, *drumroll* NEETs.
