88 Horizon
Thanks for your patience! "88 Horizon," the latest 'zine from the "Shin Kazama Fan Club," is out! This issue is the last in the series. Come on now, bro! Pass it up and you'll regret it. Do we even have to mention that all we focus on is Area 88? Includes more than ten parody manga and fan-fic stories. Length: 88 pages. 700 yen. (Tokyo, Nerima-ku)
TRISTAR
The infamous Kaoru Shintani parody circle "TRISTAR" is back! Many apologies, Shintani-sensei! We're currently up to issue 1.5. We've got lovely stuff, we've got serious stuff, we have (heart)(heart) stuff, we've got a whole variety of stuff in this premiere spin-off 'zine from "We are." Mainly centered on illustrations, short parodies, and an "image song" list (mainly unofficial.) Length: 64 pages. 600 yen. (Tokyo, Kita-ku)
Metalight
The SF Anime Research Club Metalight has completed its spin-off magazine, "Macross Game: Valkyrie." It's a game focusing on piloting mecha in one-on-one combat. All you need is this game, and you can experience duels from the viewpoint of either Valkyries or Battle Pods. We are currently hard at work on the sequel: "Macross Game 2: Destroids." If you'd like to try, please send a postal money order for 700 yen. Metalight is always looking for new members! (Tokyo, Ota-ku)
Ah!?
"We tried to break comic magazine's pattern!" That's the tagline on the cover of the premier issue of Ah!? and we think it says it all. Every page is jam-packed with comics. Every issue is a challenge to ourselves to break the mold of existing comic magazines. Everything is trial and error, for a fresh and powerful appearance! We want to exceed Katsuhiro Otomo's work! 80 pages. 650 yen. We are looking for new members (only people who think their art is good, though.) (Saitama pref.)
oh, such memories.
I *think* Metalight is a 'play by mail' game, where you send in orders, all the orders are tallied, then every player gets back a 'results' letter where you then choose your next move.
And I could be utterly wrong. I doubt ANYONE remembers 'play by mail' gaming.
And all the Shintani love makes me pine for his Queen 1313 manga, long a staple in one of the long dead anime magazines (i think it was The Anime but I wouldn't swear to it)

Durn whippersnappers thought they INVENTED dojinshi! This'll learn 'em.

Oh, man...I'm swept back to memories of X-acto knives, long galleys of type waxed up to stick, ruling pages with blue pen lines, trimming border tape, and delicately carrying the whole assemblage to the office copy machine while the boss wasn't looking. A month or two later it would all spread out in APA form.
Old school was never older...
