In a shot taken by Hiroko in the Chofu pet cemetery, this chunky guy (who gets plenty of food and affection from the monks who tend the area) appears completely unfazed by the fact that he's sitting on a mass grave for research animals. Click to see it at full size.
Holy...!
That's the most amazingly sleek looking FAT cat I've ever seen. I mean it, look at that...none of the usual "oh I can't move" fatty kitty, looks like he could still take off after a passing mouse and catch it...
I guess I'm thinking Sumo Cat.
but why should he be uncomfortable sitting on that grave? Cats are MUCH more connected to the other worlds than mere humans. They fold space, they teleport, they can control gravity, and over centuries they've tamed humans to feed them and groom them and fuss over them... :)

And scoop their poop out of boxes. By the way Matt...I don't know if I told you that the kitty crack we picked up in Nakano worked pretty well. It seemed to lose it's power after about 2 days, though.

Ah, the matatabi? Glad to hear it gets American cats as high as Japanese ones. It's said that when exposed to fresh stuff, the reaction is even more extreme than that of catnip.
