Celebrate Valentines Day the Japanese way: with chocolates shaped like kabuto-mushi beetles! Dating an entomologist? Trying to introduce a little entomophagy into your relationship? Namco's Namja Land in Ikebukuro has your back. 4,500 yen for a set of four: one Hercules beetle, one stag beetle, one male rhinocerous beetle, and one female rhinocerous beetle. For the truly dedicated, there's a beetle-shaped cake (only available on Christmas and Valentines Day) too.
Wash 'em down with some chocolate-dipped fruit shaped like fat 'n juicy beetle larvae! Komatsuya, the candy company who makes these, says they've sold 47,475 of the suckers to date. They're 220 yen a pop. Komatsuya has a whole selection of other chocolate grubs here.
I have seen these before. Maybe via JapanProbe, or something. They are amazing looking little buggers. I wonder if it would be easy to eat, though?

This is gross. No matter what culture you are from. Bugs are meant to me eaten as a last resort.

These are so wonderful! Any boy (or girl) to show up on my doorstep on Feb 14 with these in hand has already won my heart.

Clearly you're not too familiar with other cultures then, freedomev.

aku bosan mendengar ocehannya
tentang cinta
rayuan gombalnya
yang menysekkan dada
nytanya ia tak pernah ada
di sisiku.....
untuk nyatakan kesetiaannya
padaku
ku terus berkhayal tentannya
tapi nyatanya ia tak pernah ada
ketika ku buka mata
nyatanya duniaku kosong tampanya
ku terus melihat kemesraannya
tapi aku tak pernah dapat merasakannya
sehingga aku iri karnanya
aku bosan melihatnya
hidupku seakan tak berarti
tanpa cita abadi
hampa tanpanya di sisi
sampai sekarang aku hanya dapat bermimpi
hancur karna hasratku terlalu tinggi
