I realize that it's starting to sound like the Go Nagai Fan Club around here, but there's a great interview with him in the Korean newspaper Chosun. It's the usual stuff, except for the promise (threat?) of a new Mazinger series to begin next year.
Frustrated at being unable to wrap up the storylines of Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and Grandizer in the '70s due to "issues with the sponsor and the television stations," Nagai laments that "when [shows based on] kids' manga are picked up by animation companies and toy companies for animation, a lot of times they get cut off in the middle when interest starts to flag." But in response to a a question about the many different Mazinger-related series that have aired over the years, he swears that "next year, I'm definitely going to start a new series that incorporates all of the Mazinger characters. Look forward to it." We will.
I hope Mazinger Z kicks the crap out of Taekwon V in the opening episode.

Man, don't even go there...! Besides, Taekwon V's busy defending the Tok Do islands from Japanese savages these days:

You realise what this means, Matt...
Even if it's only a manga to start, this means a new SoC Mazinger Z for '08.

Scuttlebutt on the Japanese 2ch forums is that this new series is going to be directed by Yasuhiro Imagawa (of "Giant Robo" OVA fame.) He seems like tthe perfect match, but only time will tell if the rumors are true.

I hope Mazinkaiser will appear in the new serie, as it is the most powerful Mazin ever created.
Hail to the king of all mechas!!

Wow i cant wait for this. Mazinkaiser is a must if there going threw continuity, and though its speculation sounds like hes bringing the mazinger brothers all together for one epic fight against evil.
and for anyone who watched at the end of mazinkaiser Dr. hell disapears claiming he'll take revenge, maby that will have something to do with it
if anyone heres anything new email me at Greenday_Freek@hotmail.com
